HI. I’M LILLI WATERS.
At the core of my work is a documentary and candid approach, observing weddings as they naturally unfold. I am drawn to the often unnoticed ‘in-between’ moments, the quiet gestures and fleeting interactions that hold something real and unspoken about a wedding day, along with the mood and feeling that lives within them. Alongside these, I capture relaxed, natural portraits of the two of you that feel honest and timeless, forming a collection of images uniquely yours.
I work with both film and digital, and I am inspired by subtle light and the poetic qualities of film, the way it softens and holds atmosphere, mood and warmth within a moment. Each wedding carries its own rhythm and personality, and I move gently with that as it unfolds. My approach is rooted in observation and trust, a quiet fly on the wall way of working that allows moments to unfold naturally and be held as they are.
My aim is to create images that feel personal and true, preserving not just what happened, but how it felt, the atmosphere, the tenderness and the joy, so that returning to your photographs feels like returning to something deeply lived.
Over the past fourteen years, I have photographed weddings throughout Australia and all over the world, and my work has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Hello May (Australia), The Lane (Australia), Ivory Tribe, Bride Australia, Junebug Weddings (USA), Bride to Be, Frankie Magazine, Novela Bride, One Day Bridal, Rock’n’Roll Bride (USA), Brides of Norway, Together Journal (NZ) and more.
